Gaughan To Start 18th At Texas

Brendan Gaughan will start 18th for tomorrow night's Sam's Town 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Gaughan turned a qualifying lap of 30.211 seconds.

Todd Bodine will start on the pole.

"We gained four-tenths in qualifying. Anytime you can gain four-tenths - that's the goal in qualifying. Bryan (Berry) and the boys did a good job. This truck - Lone Star - just got back from the wind tunnel. It's the first time it has had a Chevrolet body on it. We think it is going to race well. Bryan found a lot of the adjustments we made in practice worked out fairly well, so we're just going to take the wait and see approach to the race.

"When we won all those races in the past here, I qualified fifth a couple of times, but most of the time I qualified right where we are starting this time. And a couple of times I had to start in the back even though I had a good qualifying spot.

"Qualifying here is not quite as vital as some of the places that we have been this year. And lately, it hasn't mattered if the South Point Racing team starts in the front or in the back.

"We'll take whatever spot we get, go to the race and see what the nighttime brings us at Texas. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night.

The Sam's Town 400 will begin at 6 p.m. PT on SPEED.
