Brendan Gaughan Pre Race Report - Kansas
The International MaxxForce Diesel team will utilize chassis CB-18 this weekend at Kansas. This is the same chassis that Gaughan drove to a 12th-place finish at Auto Club Speedway in California, and then to a 15th-place finish at Atlanta two weeks later. It is also one of two trucks that the team tested at Pocono Raceway in early April.
In his last four races at Kansas Speedway, Gaughan has finished no worse than 11th and has averaged an eighth-place finish in that span.
In the last three truck series races at Kansas Speedway, Gaughan has accrued the fifth most points of any driver in the series.
Gaughan's Thoughts on Kansas: "Kansas is definitely a style of track that I like, and it's nice for us because we're taking the same truck that we ran at California and Atlanta, so it's probably my most comfortable truck in the Circle Bar shop. And before our test at Pocono, we were able to do some front-end geometry work, and the guys in the fab shop did a fantastic job and probably did something they didn't have the parts to do and found a way to make it happen. The test went well and I'm really looking forward to racing at Kansas. I think we've had top-10 trucks all year, but we've just had a couple of early-season problems in the first few races. I think we definitely have a top-five truck going into Kansas."
THOUGHTS ON THE RACING SURFACE: "At Kansas, I've run three grooves, so asking me if it's becoming a two-groove track is asking the wrong driver. I've always said it was two grooves and just nobody else follows me. I've made my living there running the high line, and it's worked out well for us the last few races there."
