Gaughan Qualifies 27th For First Race of 2007 Season
Brendan Gaughan and the South Point Racing team will start 27th in Friday night’s Chevy Silverado HD 250. Gaughan turned a lap of 51.766 seconds (174 mph) in qualifying on Thursday night.
“I was hoping for rain, and I almost got it,” Gaughan said after qualifying. “We have a great Chevrolet for the race, and that was all we care about. From how we felt at the test until now, I’m extremely impressed with my boys.”
Gaughan and the South Point Racing team will take the green flag in the first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race of the season at 8 p.m. ET tomorrow night.
“So, now it’s time to do what we came here to do – race. Forget about qualifying, it doesn’t really matter at Daytona anyway.
“Our goal is to get up front, and bring that Daytona trophy to the west coast where it belongs.”
