Gaughan Fastest In Second Daytona Practice!

Brendan Gaughan and the South Point Racing Team led final practice on Thursday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway, leading into qualifying for the Chevy Silverado HD 250 later tonight.

Gaughan turned the fastest lap of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series final practice session – 47.513 seconds (189.422 mph).

“We got a good suck-up lap,” Gaughan said. “We hooked up with (Erik) Darnell and (Bill) Lester, and that’s what it takes if you want to be on top of the board at Daytona.”

As the South Point Racing Team prepares to qualify, Gaughan is confident that his No. 77 South Point Chevrolet will be strong in Friday night’s race.

“There’s really nothing else that I want the guys to do to this Chevrolet Silverado,” Gaughan said. “The boys have done a great job, and I think I have a truck that can go out and win this race tomorrow night.”

Qualifying for the Chevy Silverado HD 250 begins at 7 p.m. ET tonight. It will be aired on SPEED.
