Second Day Of Testing Has South Point Chevy Drafting Daytona
For Brendan Gaughan and the No. 77 South Point Racing team, day two of preseason testing at Daytona International Speedway meant another day for the team to learn about and practice their new Chevrolet Silverados.
With a morning session focusing on qualifying runs and the afternoon session primarily for drafting practice, Gaughan and the No. 77 team went to work to improve their Chevrolet.
“We were a little bit better today,” Gaughan said. “We pulled out our second truck, and we like it better than what we had yesterday. And in drafting practice, the Chevrolet Silverado seems to suck up really good.
“The team is working really hard, and we are making gains. We have found the direction that we need to go in, and we are going to focus on that tomorrow.”
The No. 77 South Point Racing team will return to the World Center of Speed for one final day of testing on Sunday. Then on Wednesday, the team will report to Homestead-Miami Speedway for a two-day test followed by another two-day test at Lakeland (Fla.).
“We’re looking forward to getting to two different style race tracks – an intermediate track and a short track – to see what our Silverados will do there,” Gaughan said. “It’s a busy couple of weeks for the team, but we want to be on top of our game when the season gets started.”
