Brendan Gaughan Returns to Homestead-Miami Speedway: Gaughan is looking forward to the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season ending event at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“This has been a long time coming,” said Gaughan. “It has been a rough year on everyone as it relates to the Kodak Racing team and this might be the light at the end of the tunnel. This is the chance to slow down and regroup.”
Gaughan Sorely Missed the Baja 1,000 Due to Contractual Obligations:
“Just before signing with the Penske-Jasper Racing team, I had a conversation with Mr. Penske about the do’s and don’ts ahead. Mr. Penske asked me how I had finished the Baja 1,000 and I had to tell him I spent the night on the side of a cliff. He basically said, ‘And you wonder why your contract is going to eliminate you racing in anything other than the Cup car’. I just hope Robbie [Gordon] has enough fun for the both of us.”
Gaughan’s First Order of Business Following the Season Finale- a Haircut: Gaughan allows one person to cut his hair, and she is in Las Vegas. Gaughan says the talk was fun but it is time for a change.
“I know my hair is out of control right now but until I am in front of Flo, no one is touching it. Back in September, everyone started laughing about how long it was getting and then it just became a joke. I definitely wouldn’t attribute the new ‘do to a Sampson complex or anything, I just haven’t been back home to get it cut. Ok, I possibly could have had it cut during the tire test with the No. 12 car but time was short. A haircut was the last thing on my mind.”

Gaughan’s Future is Uncertain at Penske-Jasper Racing: A statement released late Monday noted that a decision has not been made concerning the driver’s seat of the No. 77 Kodak Racing Dodge for the 2005 season.
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 15, 2004) - A decision has not yet been made on whether Brendan Gaughan will return to the No. 77 Penske-Jasper Racing Dodge for the 2005 season, Penske Racing South President Don Miller said Monday. Miller said Gaughan would drive the Kodak Easy Share Dodge in the NEXTEL Cup season finale at Homestead this weekend. Miller, who noted that Gaughan currently possesses second in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings, said a decision on Gaughan's status for next year wouldn't be made until after the season ended. "And that is after the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Awards Banquet in New York City," Miller added. The banquet is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3.
