MBNA AMERICA 400
SEPTEMBER 26, 2004
QUALIFYING REPORT
Brendan Gaughan will start the MBNA America 400 from the 25th position on Sunday, Sept. 26.
Gaughan was the 40th driver of 50 to make his qualifying attempt at “The Monster Mile”. Following his run, Gaughan said the car was loose heading into the turns, but a little snug in the center.
Gaughan is driving chassis PRS-37 at Dover International Speedway. The Kodak Racing team acquired PRS-37 from Ryan Newman’s ALLTEL Racing team. The chassis was raced by Newman last year at Las Vegas and at Charlotte in the Coca-Cola 600, and this year at Las Vegas.
Gaughan has professed his appreciation for the Delaware facility.
“Dover is a driver’s track,” Gaughan said. “It just tests a driver all day, mentally and physically. I can’t imagine if we still ran 500 miles like they used to years ago.”
Coverage of The MBNA America 400 will air on TNT beginning with pre-race activities at 12:30 p.m., EDT.
