Penske Racing South has hired Choate Construction Co. to renovate a former industrial plant in Mooresville Business Park.

Penske's NASCAR teams, which comprise drivers Rusty Wallace, Ryan Newman and Brendan Gaughan, will be consolidated into about half of the vacant, 440,000-square-foot Matsushita Compressor Corp. building.

The $10 million renovation is slated for completion in December.

Choate, based in Atlanta, has offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Charleston, S.C., and Savannah, Ga.
