Notes of Interest:
Gaughan and the Jasper Engines team are on a roll and come to Indianapolis fresh from a third place finish in the last Craftsman Truck event, which was run at Memphis Motorsports Park two weeks ago. And what better place than Indiana, home of sponsor Jasper Engines and Transmissions, to make the final statement that the team is back with a visit to victory lane at IRP?
Gaughan on Indianapolis Raceway Park:
"I have a very special reason why I love the finish we got here in 2003 at IRP; but I can’t really talk about it. All I can say is we had a solid fourth place run and it was probably one of my proudest finishes ever.
"IRP is a fun little race track. It’s a hard-core, old-fashioned, dirt under your fingernails, let's go racing short track. Unfortunately the high groove is the preferred groove, which means I’ll maybe find my way to the bottom or something and try to pass everyone where no one else wants to go.
"It races a lot like Irwindale, and I just love that place and is probably why I love to race at IRP.
"We’re in Indiana, which is the home of Jasper Engines and Transmissions. We expect quite a few Jasper associates, customers and employees to come out and support us. Last time we had a big Jasper crowd we kind of let them down with the Kentucky finish. Our short track program I’ve been bragging about. Now it's time to go show everyone what it’s all about."
